Upgrading yourself in the lockdown days

Upgrading in the lockdown days

I started writing this blog one week into the lockdown and had time only to publish now! After the announcement of the extension which is May 4th as of now. I have listed a few things that kept me occupied and entertained for the past 21 days, hopefully, you will get some ideas for the next 18 days.

So what are we doing to keep ourselves engaged, Since we had a busy schedule in January and February we couldn’t afford 24 days lockdown sitting ideal, as we mentioned in our previous blog, our designers were working from home and since we saw a lockdown coming, we gave away our desktops to video editors to take it home. Many are not aware that the major part of wedding photography happens once the wedding is over.

The lockdown has given us all the time in the world to look above our usual deliverables, a blessing in disguise for everyone, if we are dedicated to what we do, then we can sit and plan things in great detail, especially for entrepreneurs.

I had plenty of work to be finished by the month-end and the quarantine time helped me in doing the impossible. Segregating all the events which we did in the past 3 years, which in itself was a monumental task and there was plenty of time to schedule drafts for Facebook and plan posts and contents for social media and of course, we have some very good plans for a lot of blogs over here. We have managed to draft them all, you will be seeing them flying one by one. Other than wedding photography these are the things I was doing during the quarantine period.

What did I do during the Quarantine period?

Books

I had bought at least 12 books in this year’s Chennai Book fare, some of them are coffee table classics on London City, the Queen, and on Hong Kong’s landscapes, apart from plenty of interesting books and on top of it, there were at least 3 of them that I had bought in the last year’s book fair which I din’t even touch!! Though I have been visiting the Chennai book fair when it was held in Co-optex ground, Egmore and Quaid millath college in Mount Road.

Music

I started playing Keyboard only a month ago, lucky, I had bought my own keyboard just a week before the lockdown. With all the time in the world, I was able to read and play musical notes and plenty of tutorials on the internet helped a lot!

Exercise

Exercise is something which I do irrespective of the lockdown, being a photographer is physically taxing and you cannot always take it for granted when you are able to shoot on back to back days, there is no going back on this. ! have been able to restart my pranayama training which I haven’t been doing for ages. Pranayama is something which I would recommend to get trained under a professional, kindly do not practice complicated pranayama teachings that you see on the internet.

Online tutorials

while everything printed is just a couple of clicks away, this is a golden age for voracious readers ( i’m not one). If you are not a voracious reader and if you prefer just to browse through Youtube video to stay updated and for entertainment, then I am pretty sure you are familiar with YouTube tutorial channels, whether you are a photographer, designer, preparing for exams, musician. or professional of any field who is looking to improve your skills then you can update yourself with thousands of tutorials. If you are done with YouTube then there are plenty of quality online training websites that cover a wide range of collections from digital marketing tips to pencil sketching. Take full use this time as there are plenty, of courses that are given completely free of cost.

Blogging

Exactly what you are reading right now! Our website is one of the most visited wedding photographer’s websites in the country, thanks to our team who keeps up on blogging wedding-related details and this must be one of the few blogs where we have written less on weddings.. Looking at all the drafts that I have not published in the last 2 years, there are plenty of them and they are going to keep coming.

Unlike other testing times we have sailed through, the current situation is such that we cannot go out and help as it will only give an opportunity to cause more chaos. By now, you would have seen a hundred times on the internet, that we can save this just by sitting at home. during these testing times, stay safe, stay at home.
