How about a specific theme decor?

Lately, the decor holds a lot of importance when it comes to small functions like Mehndi, Haldi, and other wedding functions. People spend most of their time understanding how to make the atmosphere and the decor more appealing to make it fun. From marigold to tulips, people usually go with the flowery theme when it comes to Mehndi functions. So, pick a theme, set the color code, and there you go setting the perfect atmosphere for a perfect mehndi function.

How about dress codes?

Well, women aren’t ever too old to dress up, isn't it? So, to make mehndi functions more memorable, how about setting a color code, or dress code? Colors like yellow, green, or dress code like Indo-Western outfits, and more will set in the perfect mood for the perfect event.

Did we hear some music?

Yes, none of the Indian weddings are complete without music. So, download the right mehndi and wedding songs, and let the ladies gather together and shake some Indian thumkas to the beats.

Well, never miss out on props!

Yes, props and photo booths are the new thing that people aren’t bored off yet! So, let the cameraman do wonders by capturing different moments of the guests with different funky, cute, and funny props. Also, photobooths help in creating a unique memory just at your mehndi, so have it all set.

Raghu Rai in Chennai, Chennai Photo Biennale' 19

Blog by: Sujith

Raghu Rai, the legend, visited Chennai last week part of CPB’s month long photo festival., A film based on him was screened in the Goeith Institute in Thousand Lights for a packed house. Raghu Rai was at his candid best on his opinion on various aspects of photography including the use and abuse of social media and digital photography, at the end of the talk he was gracious enough to pose for photographs with almost everyone in the auditorium.

About Chennai Photo Biennale.

Chennai Photo Biennale is an international photo festival where photographers from around the world fly down to Chennai for artists talks, workshops and to exhibit their art. The best part of this edition is the venue, senate hall, government arts college, Chennai museum and plenty of railway stations. where artists’ works are displayed. A golden opportunity for photo enthusiasts and art lovers in Chennai.

All about Ambiance!

Did you ever think that bad decor can actually spoil an almost picture perfect moment? Many people fail to believe that decor and photography are co-related. For a perfect picture, we just do not need a better photographer, but also a better decor! If the lighting is not perfect, if the decor is not set up right, then there is nothing much a photographer will be able to do!

When we step into weddings, we see the entire area is lit with a lot of yellow and other colorful lights. Do you know why?

It is because these lights help in enhancing the look of the pictures. They add the touch of natural light to every picture that is captured during the wedding rituals and other candid shots around the space.

Sometimes you would have also noticed that the cameraman team comes with a set of camera lights, this is because if the light on the stage or any other space is not up to the mark, these camera lights help in uplifting and enhance the quality of the photos.

When it comes to decorating the space, at Indian weddings we tend to see flowers everywhere. From different breeds to different colors, and different forms of decor. These flowers are used at the entrance of the venue, around the seating area, and also used to decorate the stage and backdrop. Why is this decor essential? Well, this decoration of flowers, helps in highlighting the pictures and breaking the monotony of a plain background. The latest trends go with theme based decoration, tassels, and photo booths to add a different flavor to the photography.

Many people go with the opinion that the ambience or the decor has nothing to do with the photography. But the truth is, they are correlated! Just imagine, if the lighting at the wedding is not right, will it sum up to bright good pictures? No right! Not only this, the ambience and decoration add a different flavor to the photography.

From the entrance to the stage, every small detailing in terms of decoration enhances the photos. So, when if you are looking at capturing the best of the wedding moments of the bride and the groom, then ensure that the stage is lit with the right decor, and lighting and make the photographer's job a little easier. So, do not take decoration lightly at weddings, or any other celebration, because decoration and the overall ambience is what creates the atmosphere for a fun-filled event.

When the Legend comes down to Chennai

Blog by: Sujith

The guy standing next to me had the courage to ask Raghu Rai if he can click a picture of him and he gave his point and shoot camera, Raghu Rai obliged and i was stunned! that was the humility the 75 years old legend, the man who documented India had, a strong, valuable lesson for all the photographers around the world.

I was keeping a close tab on what was happening with CPB2019 especially after attending the workshop on photojournalism and storytelling by Dimitry Becks, a big shout out to Chennai Photo Biennial, this was the best workshop/seminar long distance the best I have attended so far.

My intention to go to the screening of Raghu Rai’s movie by his daughter was not only to enjoy the movie on him but at any cost I wanted to click this man in my camera. The 58 minutes documentary style movie was engaging throughout and as soon as it was over, Raghu Rai arrived in style and the entire packed house gave him a standing ovation and like me there were atleat another 30 odd photographers in the auditorium , who took out their DSLR cameras and started firing. the short discussion had a lot of insights on documentary photography, the digital worlds influence and even how social media is influencing photography. He was at his candid best when answering questions and was never diplomatic in answering any questions shot at him. At the end almost everyone who attended got a chance to meet him and he patiently obliged for all the selfies and a few group shots for a good 30 minutes and I was also lucky enough to get a picture with him.

For me personally the best part when this picture was taken, a lady came forward and asked for a picture and i was the guy standing right in front of him, looking at me, he politely asked “photographer, can you take a picture of us” That was too much of happiness to digest in one evening.
