An awesome year 2017

A Great Year!

The year 2017 has been the year of "kids" for us. Just like how Chinese have a year for everything, as we write this blog, This year we have done 17 First birthday shoots and plenty of kids related shoots like casual outdoor shoots, Baptism, Upanayanam, Ayush Homam and Naming ceremony, in fact it was only in this year, that we came to know that there are so many events related to kids alone!!. It all started on January 7th, our first shoot of this year was for darling Areeza, a first birthday shoot in Bangalore and we believe that all the kids shoot that we keep doing are because of the "Areeza Effect" not only her images have added charm to our kids gallery but in some ways she has become our lucky charm! January 7th, 2018 we will be in Bangalore again to shoot her second birthday celebration

Wedding Photography is our USP. We did some great weddings this year, definitely more than the previous year, wedding in new cities, surprisingly we went to Trichy again and again. We did our first multi-racial wedding, and it was as fun as we always thought it would be, where a European bride and a Tamil groom tied the knot. And we almost did an international wedding in London but nevertheless we have been getting a few international enquiries, thanks to our website :) This year did a few commercial events other than our weddings and kids shoots, we did a sports event, photo walks and a few corporate shoots and the icing on the cake came by the end of this year where we successfully shot and live telecasted christ church anglo Indian higher secondary school, Madras' 175th founders day celebrations and a reunion which was historic and HUGE! we are writing a separate blog on the magnum-opus. on the last three days of the year, we did 2 weddings and photo documentary! In one word, this year has been "FANTASTIC"

COME 2018, we will be kicking starting some of the new projects which were always in the pipeline, Photo-stories, and Documentaries, our work will be more visible than ever before in the social media, which means more blogs and we will be furiously instagramming too!

The moral of the story that we learned this year is there is no replacement for hard work, whether it is in improving your skills or if you are planning a long-term social media strategy if one is determined, honest and dedicated, then everything will fall into places.

A Stop motion Wedding Invite

Stop motion wedding invite Chennai wedding

Wedding Invite has become part of a wedding photographer's menu, though none can match the traditional wedding invitation, the digital version of wedding invitation has been on the rise. Though we have done a few animation version of wedding invitations, this is the first time we decided to do an invite involving the bride and groom!

Trivia: It took us 1 day to shoot this 35 second stop motion wedding invite and 3 weeks of post-production work. The concept and the story were shared by the bride and groom!

This is our first time we have been involved in making a stop motion wedding invite and strangely we have started receiving more hits in the video! that is 5 months after the event! Suddenly we see a spike in the hits and the video has hit 2500 HITS of which 2450! after the event got over! viewed in over 65 countries, this video has become our most popular video in our Youtube channel! though 2000 Hits is a small number for a youtube video and can be nowhere near what some wedding films have been getting, this is a HUGE number for our team and has surpassed the previous best of 1000 hits for our montage which took 1 Year to hit 1000.

Recreating the old magic

Recreating the old Magic | Album Restoration

It was only recently that in this part of the world, we have woken up and understood the importance of the preserving and digitally restoring old movies - classics. Just like how some of our yesteryears classics are digitally remastered and re-released, we had an opportunity to digitally remaster an album from the 80's!

A gala wedding in Vaitheeswaran, beautifully shot by a studio from Madras ( which doesn't exist anymore)  We had to convert the hard copy into high-resolution images, without damaging the old album, process each and every image and design the album without killing the old world charm that was very much visible in every picture.

Though we prefer the English layouts where images shot are given more prominence than the designs used on the album, here, we decided to go with lighter tones to suit the film tones of those years and we felt redesigning with any other design won't do justice to an event that was held 30 years back in the backdrop of a traditional south Indian wedding.

We have started working on more restoring works this year mainly damaged images and converting old VHS to MP4 but this was our first experience in converting an album which was more challenging and definitely more satisfying.

We were able to successfully remaster the album because of the way the pictures were shot and one main reason is the album was maintained and preserved in good condition, which allowed us to use 97% of the images that were in the album

4 Easy tips for preserving your album

  1. Double check if your/guest's hands are dry and be extra careful if you have long fingernails.

  2. Don't expose the album to direct sunlight, doesn't matter which brand of album you own.

  3. It is best advised to keep your album flat instead of keeping it vertical as there is more possibility of adding pressure to the album's spine.

  4. Follow the step 1,2 & 3. :p
