The 40 year old digital treasure trove

This blog and documentary have nothing to do with us but this is a “shout out” to all the documentary filmmakers and photographers who have laid the foundation for the art and continue to inspire the current generation of documentary photographers and filmmakers like us.

Roughly 40 years back Adam and his team visited India to document the beautiful landscape and people of Kumarakom, Kumarakom, today, is world famous for its scenic backwaters and boathouses, and is usually thronged by foreigners in summer.

Peter Adamson and his team documented the everyday life of people and in particular, they documented a group of people for close to 2 weeks. Fast forward 2019 Adam uploaded this video on his youtube channel for a friend who was about to travel to Kumarokam and this video went viral, particularly in Kumarakom! A Youtube channel from Kumarakom “Kumarakom Today” decided to visit the location mentioned in the video and to their surprise, they were able to interview many of them who were part of the video, the best part was most of them were still alive, doing well and were seeing the video for the first time since it was shot roughly 40 years ago.
